Printing a 1-Color Design

Below is a video and the steps to help you work through the screen print process.

Steps

Follow the steps below for printing a 1-color design.

  1. Be sure your screen has completely dried from exposing it.
  2. Tape off borders of screen on the front side (ink side).
  3. Tape of registration marks and any pin holes (little spots ink may be able to come through) on the back side (print side).
  4. Place screen into printhead with the bottom of your design closer to the printhead and the top of your design closer to you.
  5. Lower the printhead with the screen and align your registration marks to the pallet.
    1. The top of your design should generally align with the top horizontal line. For a standard print you should align the center marks to the center line on the board. If you are  wanting a pocket hit, align it to the red line.
  6. Once the screen is aligned, tighten the screen down as much as you can (we don’t want it to wiggle).
  7. Place your shirt onto the press, you load it by placing the bottom of the shirt over the pallet. The collar should be just off the top of the pallet.
  8. Place ink onto your screen.
  9. Pull the squeegee and ink across your design at about an 80 degree angle.
  10. Pull the ink across a maximum of 3 times before you check to see how it printed.
  11. Once printed, pull your shirt off the press and place it onto the conveyor dryer
    1. Be careful with the shirt as the ink still hasn’t cured.
  12. Yay!
