Exposing Your Screen

Below is a video and the steps to help you work through the screen print process.

Steps

Follow the steps below for exposing a screen.

  1. Grab a dry screen that has emulsion on it.
  2. Peel off the thin plastic film on the back of the emulsion/capillary film.
  3. Place your design onto the back of your screen with the text backwards.
    1. The design should be 5 inches below the very top of the screen (use the t-square).
  4. Use a small piece of tape to help secure your design where you want it.
  5. Place your screen down on the exposure unit with the bottom of the screen against the glass (the design should read normal at this point).
  6. Lower the exposure unit lid and turn on the vacuum.
  7. Once the vacuum has sealed down click the “Exposure” button.
    1. A 2 minute timer will start and the light will turn off automatically after the 2 minutes.
  8. After the screen has been exposed, turn off the vacuum and open the lid.
  9. Take your design off of the screen and put it aside for safe keeping.
  10. Place your screen in the washout booth with the print side facing you (the back of the screen).
  11. Keep the pressure washer about 1-2 feet away from the screen and constantly moving as it slowly washes out your design.
  12. Wipe away any sitting water and place screen on rack to dry
