Below is a video and the steps to help you work through the screen print process.
Steps
Follow the steps below for exposing a screen.
- Grab a dry screen that has emulsion on it.
- Peel off the thin plastic film on the back of the emulsion/capillary film.
- Place your design onto the back of your screen with the text backwards.
- The design should be 5 inches below the very top of the screen (use the t-square).
- Use a small piece of tape to help secure your design where you want it.
- Place your screen down on the exposure unit with the bottom of the screen against the glass (the design should read normal at this point).
- Lower the exposure unit lid and turn on the vacuum.
- Once the vacuum has sealed down click the “Exposure” button.
- A 2 minute timer will start and the light will turn off automatically after the 2 minutes.
- After the screen has been exposed, turn off the vacuum and open the lid.
- Take your design off of the screen and put it aside for safe keeping.
- Place your screen in the washout booth with the print side facing you (the back of the screen).
- Keep the pressure washer about 1-2 feet away from the screen and constantly moving as it slowly washes out your design.
- Wipe away any sitting water and place screen on rack to dry
